About
Northern Vermont Speech Therapy
Northern Vermont Speech Therapy, PLC was opened in 2021 to address a lack of private speech and language therapy services available in Northern Vermont. By offering flexible services in-home or online, the goal is to provide families with speech and language expertise to improve communication skills without waitlists or a lengthy commute.
The owner, Emily Grims, graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Hampshire in 2008 with a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is a state licensed, ASHA (American Speech Language Hearing Assocation) certified pediatric speech language pathologist (SLP) with an additional license to work in Vermont schools. She is passionate about collaborating with families to help children improve their communication skills.
Emily has experience evaluating and treating students from preschool to 12th grade with a wide range of language and communication challenges, including in articulation, stuttering, language learning disabilities, executive functioning, and social thinking skills.
In 2023 the practice expanded to include two additional speech therapists to offer a better range of services to families: a dedicated SLP teletherapist with nearly 20 years of experience with school age children that can offer remote speech therapy, and an SLP literacy specialist who is specifically trained to help students with dyslexia or other reading difficulties.
