Evaluations & Screenings

Given the shortage of speech language pathologists, especially in rural areas, Northern Vermont Speech Therapy, PLC seeks to close that gap and provide underserved areas with strong in-person clinical evaluation services. Evaluations are completed by Emily Grims, M.S., CCC-SLP who holds:

• A Master’s degree with an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)

• Independent professional liability insurance

• A Vermont Educator License with a Speech Language Pathologist endorsement

Ms. Grims has been offering these services to local schools since 2014 to meet a variety of needs including staff shortages, short-term coverage needs, and to schools using teletherapy as the service delivery model. Evaluations are followed up in a timely manner with thorough reports that include:

• Eligibility determination for speech/language services under the State of VT Special Education Rules

• Suggested accommodations given the unique challenges of the student in the classroom

• Recommended therapy targets based on the student's profile of strengths, needs, and challenges
